I work as a graphic designer and visual artist. A love of nature has been a continual thread throughout my life and many of my paintings and enamels are inspired by the natural environment.
Having a husband, kids and friends who play music inspires me to also paint music compositions. Particularly Jazz and Blues musicians. Music is so visceral and touches us on many levels. When I begin creating an artwork depicting a musician performing or the sound of the music on a two-dimensional platform, I turn the music on and return to the free spirit of the 5 year old that took brush in hand and got lost in the moment and freely stroked the canvas expressing all the joy, anger or whatever emotion ruled the day.

“What I love about enamels is they are not static. They are a dynamic artwork, changing as the light and shadows play on them. Unfortunately you can’t capture that in an image. And there is always a surprise when you take the piece from the kiln as the heat, or fire when torching, is a collaborative player in the creation of the piece and the kiln always has the last word” .
